A beautiful and ornate vintage Order of the Eastern Star Past Worthy Matron scroll filigree diamond ring! According to Wikipedia, The Order of the Eastern Star is a Freemasonry-related fraternal organization open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by Boston, Massachusetts lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a former Freemason official. The order is based on teachings from the Bible but is open to people of all religious beliefs. The emblem of the Order is a five-pointed star with the white ray of the star pointing downwards towards the manger. Each point of the star contains five different colored synthetic stones in red, blue, green, yellow and white. This ring was worn by a figure of authority as symbolized by the diamond gavel, most likely a Past Worthy Matron. The ring is crafted of 14K gold and has an approximate 0.11ct diamond centered in the Eastern Star symbol with an additional combined fourteen single cut diamonds on the gavel and top arch of the setting for an approximate total diamond weight of 0.53 carats. There is beautiful open wire filigree and carved detailing around the pentagon setting in a vintage style with minimal wear and separation to the filigree seen from behind the setting. The large setting is substantial and measures 22mm by 13.5mm with a 6.5mm rise off the finger and the 14K yellow gold shank is 2.5mm wide tapering to 1.5mm.
