Unique Russian Vintage Engagement Ring 585 Rose Gold Ring Diamond Navette Ring Simulated Emerald Two Tone Gold Vintage Diamond Wedding Ring!
What a striking and unique vintage engagement ring this is from Russia with love with an interesting history! Online research finds the hallmark on this ring of the hammer and sickle inside a star with the number 585 next to it, to most likely be circa late 1980s near the time of the fall of the Soviet Union. *"Two types of Soviet "585" hallmarks exist, one official – a sailing ship stamped next to the "585" mark, intended for export only, starting from 1989 – and the second unexplained – the Soviet star with hammer and sickle and "585" mark next to it. There is little information on this latter type. One theory is that right after the collapse of the USSR, from 1989 to 1991, chaos in the government structure led to a mix-up in jewelry-making regulations and some manufacturers began using the "585" hallmark." An interesting piece of jewelry history!
The navette style setting has a 0.15ct emerald green colored round simulant stone held in place with six prongs in the middle of a milgrained elongated frame of rose gold. This then is surrounded by a border of decoratively detailed white gold and six 0.03 diamonds placed at the four directional outer edges providing a touch of sparkle against the bright white gold. The contrast of the two gold colors is beautiful and I think it's such a feminine setting with its beautiful filigree and open gold cut outs on the under galley! This would make a stunning and unique engagement, betrothal or promise ring for someone looking for something special and different! The navette setting is 20mm long by 15mm wide with a 10mm rise off the finger and the shoulder width is 3mm tapering to 2mm and can be sized by a trusted jeweler.
